Overview of role

Data Cloud is seeking for a Support Technician to provide system and network operations support in a 24x7 high availability disaster recovery service environment.

Job description

  • Monitor system and network using various network management and service desk tools
  • Perform various system and network maintenance tasks in Windows and Linux environments
  • Provide hands-on, telephone and email technical support to clients
  • Apply system and network administrative skills toward problem detection, debugging and recover
  • Clearly, accurately and concisely articulate problems and symptoms when escalating issues
  • Install and configure backup software on client desktops, servers, and laptops
  • Plan and coordinate the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance ofLinux/Windows hardware/software and peripherals used for backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Periodically test backup media to ensure backup system is working

Requirements, Education and Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience working for a similar Managed Service Provider (MSP) or Internet ServiceProvider (ISP)
  • Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high-quality environment
  • Degree or Diploma in related field (computer science and/or network engineering)
  • Drivers License

Technical Knowledge:

  • System Administrator Level knowledge of Linux (command line), Windows Server (2003/8/12),Active Directory, SQL Server
  • Understanding TCP/IP network environment and ability to debug network problems
  • Familiarity with virtualised environments like VMWare and Hyper-V is a plus
  • Configuring and managing backup schemes to disk/tape
