Overview of role

The Manager Public Relations will continuously enhance and protect MRA with an unwavering focus on building and maintaining NDA’s reputation and image.

Job description

  • To manage the Public Relations Unit by formulating short and long term public relations and communication strategies and supervise implementation of such plans
  • To Increase public awareness of MRA’s vision and strategies, value propositions and develop MRA’s corporate image and identity
  • Identify main client groups and audiences and determine the best way to reach them
  • To monitor, track and advise on all MRA / medicines regulatory news related articles and releases
  • To grow and manage MRA’s social media content
  • To monitor stakeholder dialogue and feedback, synthesize and make recommendations for action
  • To establish and maintain relationships with key media outlets
  • To foster community relations through communication and events such as road shows and involvement through community initiatives
  • To provide support in managing crisis communications related to MRA’s regulatory mandate
  • To develop, review and implement communication and public relations policy, guidelines and SOPs
  • To prepare and submit periodic reports outlining the performance of the unit
  • To perform any other responsibilities, tasks or activities as may be assigned from time to time
  • Makes all PR decisions for the effective and efficient utilization of the resources in the department
  • Liaises with, and represents the CEO in external communications

Requirements, Education and Experience

  • Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Mass communication, Public relations, or Journalism. Additional qualifications in marketing, politics and social sciences will be an added advantage.
  • Seven (7) years of work experience in relevant field, four of which in a senior managerial position.

Essential skills

High maturity of character with high levels of confidentiality; analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to network, socialize and develop and maintain relationships internally and externally; good knowledge of ICT applications.


Ability to plan and work independently; excellent communication, interpersonal skills and writing skills; good teamwork.
