Fund Accounts Officer

Overview of role

  • To accurately and timely record, classify and analyse the Fund Administration transactions (contributions and withdrawals) in accordance with established concepts, principles, accounting standards, regulatory and legal requirements.
  • To assist with the analytical review of the Trial Balance, Income Statement and Balance Sheet.

Job description

  • Generate monthly contributions and withdrawal journals from the Fundworx system.
  • Perform trend analysis for reasonableness before posting onto the financial reporting system (Accpac).
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for 3 portfolios (actives and deferred; with profit pensioners; and non-profit pensioners) and clear reconciling items accordingly without delay.
  • Generate contributions journal from Fundworx and compare with what has been deposited into the bank by 51 51 pay centres.
  • Generate pensioner payroll journals from Fundworx and compare with payments that have gone through the bank and reconcile any variances.
  • Generate benefit payment journals per category (deaths, retirements, withdrawals) from Fundworx and compare it with the bank and reconcile any variances.
  • Perform bank reconciliations for the 3 portfolios (actives and deferred; with profit pensioners and non-profit pensioners)
  • Reconciliation of all the benefit payables at the end of each reporting period.
  • Ensure that all management letter findings related to contributions and benefit payments are addressed accordingly.
  • Assist in the preparation of year end accounts ensuring that legislative timelines and client requirements are met with strict adherence to IFRS, NBFIRA, Retirement Act and Fund Rules.

Requirements, Education and Experience

Qualifications

Formal qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/AAT (Level 4)

Knowledge & experience

At least three (3) years post-qualification experience.
