Overview of role

Overall responsibility for the maintenance and administration of Inventory, Fixed Assets and Cashbooks.

Job description

FIXED ASSETS

  • Record Asset movement including acquisition, depreciation, disposals and impairment of assets in accordance with the IASs and IFRs
  • Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of the fixed asset schedule to determine disposals.
  • Run monthly depreciation/ amortization of assets.
  • Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiries.
  • Reviewing Fixed Asset Register.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies, procedures and processes as they relate to Assets management and accounting systems

INVENTORY

  • Verifying accurate stock costing and valuation
  • Ensure that stocks are properly accounted
  • Ensure that internal controls are properly adhered to.
  • Ensure that stocks are properly maintained
  • Carry out item pricing and ensuring that obsolete stocks are properly disposed
  • Maintain stock reconciliation, consignment stock reconciliations and report discrepancies timely
  • Perform weekly and monthly physical stock count and resolve variances
  • Assist with the preparation of schedules and/or reports required by external/internal auditors in connection with the audit of inventory

CASHBOOKS

  • Responsible for the daily banking and cash reports
  • Maintain & reconcile all cashbooks to the bank statements daily
  • Maintain & reconcile all credit card accounts monthly
  • Ensure that Cashbook transactions are recorded correctly, investigating and correcting variances and incorrect posting.
  • Assist with the preparation of schedules and/or reports required by external/internal auditors in connection with the audit of Cashbooks
  • Reconcile the Cashbooks to the general ledger monthly


Requirements, Education and Experience

  • Degree in Accounting or related business qualification
  • Pursuing ACCA or CIMA or any related professional course
  • Must be a BICA member
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting
  • Demonstrate experience in accounting, accounting standards and interpretation of legislation.
  • Ability to prepare reports in a timely manner and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in the use of Accpac, spreadsheets and related software
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement new procedures
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills
  • SAP knowledge will be an added advantage
  • Strong attention to detail and strong analytical and problem solving skills Mature, self-motivated, proactive, willing to learn and able to work under pressure
